GETTING STARTED

First-run setup

This page sets up FlyCRM before you add real data. Do these steps once, right after install. Each step takes a minute. Good setup now saves cleanup later.

Already ran the setup wizard? The wizard on your first visit collects your business name, currency, and date format. If you completed it, those are already set — step 1 below just shows where to review or change them. If you skipped the wizard, or want to finish it, see Onboarding. Steps 2 to 5 on this page (statuses, pipeline, team, and email) are not part of the wizard, so do them here whichever way you started.

Open FlyCRM > Settings to begin.

1. Check your business profile

Your name and currency appear on every quote you send. The setup wizard already asked for these, so this step is a review — change anything the wizard set, or fill it in if you skipped that step.

  1. Go to Settings > General.
  2. Make sure that your business name is correct.
  3. Make sure that your currency is correct.
  4. Set the currency symbol position and the decimal format.
  5. Select Save.

Note: FlyCRM uses one currency for the whole site.

Screenshot needed: The Settings > General tab with the business name filled in and a currency selected. Highlight the currency and symbol-position controls.

2. Review contact and company statuses

A status is a colored label that shows where a record stands, for example New, Active, or Customer. FlyCRM ships with a default set. Review it and add your own.

  1. Go to Settings > Statuses.
  2. Read the default statuses for contacts and companies.
  3. To add one, select Add status, enter a name, and pick a color.
  4. Select Save.

3. Check the default sales pipeline

FlyCRM ships with one pipeline and a default set of stages: Qualified, Proposal, Negotiation, Won, and Lost. The free plugin uses this default pipeline. Custom pipelines and stage editing are Pro features.

  1. Go to Settings > Pipelines.
  2. Read the default stages, left to right.
  3. Confirm the stages match how you sell.

Screenshot needed: The Settings > Pipelines tab showing the default stages in order. Highlight the stage list.

4. Add your team

FlyCRM has two CRM roles:

  • CRM Manager — full access to all data, settings, imports, and reports.
  • CRM Agent — access to their own records only. Good for a sales rep.

To give a WordPress user a CRM role:

  1. Go to Users in the WordPress admin.
  2. Open the user you want to add.
  3. Set their role to CRM Manager or CRM Agent.
  4. Select Update User.

For a full list of what each role can do, see Team roles and permissions.

5. Set up email sending

FlyCRM sends quotes and invoices by email. The email uses your WordPress mail settings. If your host does not send mail well, install an SMTP plugin and configure it. Then send a test document to yourself.
